Messier 100 (top right) is a grand design spiral galaxy ~55 million light-years away, spanning ~160,000 light-years—larger than the Milky Way. Below it is NGC 4312, a lenticular galaxy ~60 million light-years from Earth and ~55,000 light-years across. Though they appear close, they're ~5 million light-years apart in space. This black-and-white image was taken with an 8-inch telescope using 20 × 3-minute exposures (total: 60 min). #Astrophotography #M100 #NGC4312 #DeepSky #Space
