.270 Win. Centennial: A Tribute

This year the .270 Winchester is 100 years old. It first debuted in a Win. Mod 54 in 1925. Later it was introduced in the Mod. 70 Win. Jack O’Connor used the .270 Win. to hunt all over the world and killed all of his North American sheep with the .270 Win.
Les Bowman also loved to hunt with his .270 in Mod. 70 Featherweight, and was presented a Colt Sharps rifle in .270 Win. for his work with them. He killed his British Columbia mountain goat with his .270 Win.
Randy highlights, specifically, two of his custom built .270 Win rifles, still in use: One on a 1909 Mauser Argentine action, with Claro walnut stock, and one on an FN Mauser action with a fiddle back maple stock. The blank for that one came from a tree in Lewiston, ID, not far from Jack O’Connor’s.
Both rifles are scoped with older Bausch & Lomb scopes, with Beuhler microdot adjustable mounts.
Later in the video, while paying tribute to the excellent attributes of the .270 Win. he discusses the accuracy, using factory loads, or, in his case, his handloads, with details.
