Dr. John Money and The Tragic Story of David Reimer

John Money's theory on sex and gender in the 1960s was hailed as a great success. Money's theory of gender neutrality-that nurture, not nature, determines gender identity and sexual orientation—was praised for its insights. Since that time, we have seen people searching, being taught, and wondering 'how gender identity is formed," or looking for "what gender identity am I quiz" on Google. In this video, we briefly highlight that the experiment Money conducted on the Reimer twins (which was titled "John/Joan Case") was, in fact, not a great success and ruined lives by irreversibly damaging a young man who inevitably took his own life at the age of 38, after his brother, who killed himself two years prior. The story of Dr. John Money and his "John/Joan Case" is a horrific and tragic tale.
