Order No. 55: Corpse Delivery: Heartman's Lab:
After waking from his traumatic battlefield experience, Sam is tasked with transporting a corpse infected with necrosis to Heartman's isolated lab on the western edge of the map. The journey is perilous, crossing tar pits and BT-infested terrain. Upon delivery, Sam meets Heartman, a man who dies every 21 minutes to search for his deceased family on the Other Side. The encounter sheds more light on the mysteries of the Death Stranding, and Heartman joins the UCA, giving Sam new insight into the nature of extinction events.

Episode 8: Heartman:

Order No. 58: Anti-chiralium Medication Delivery: Geologist:
Sam is sent to deliver anti-chiralium medication to a Geologist suffering from exposure in a dangerous mountainous region. With Timefall constantly eroding the terrain and BTs nearby, this mission tests Sam’s skill in traversing the unforgiving terrain around Heartman’s Lab.

Order No. 59: Antimatter Bomb Delivery: Paleontologist:
This mission requires extreme caution as Sam carries a volatile antimatter bomb across steep, snowy mountain passes to reach a Paleontologist’s facility. Any significant damage or fall could detonate the cargo. The successful delivery reveals more about the fossil record and its connection to the Death Stranding.

Order No. 60: Recovery: Ammonites:
Sam must retrieve ammonite fossils from an area saturated with tar and BT activity. These ancient lifeforms hold clues to previous extinction events. With the aid of his equipment and timing, Sam retrieves the samples and gains deeper scientific support from the Evo-devo Biologist.

Order No. 61: Tar Extraction Device & Ammonite Delivery: Evo-devo Biologist:
Combining the previous mission’s discoveries, Sam delivers a tar extraction device and additional ammonites to the Evo-devo Biologist, further advancing research on the tar's properties. These missions deepen the understanding of how the tar is tied to extinction events and the rise of the BTs.

Order No. 376: Delivery (Time-sensitive): Live Fish:
In this urgent delivery, Sam must safely transport a tank of live fish before the chiral network’s degradation compromises the environment. The path is long and fragile, demanding precision, but successful delivery helps researchers better understand life surviving in chiral-contaminated zones.

Order No. 62: Repair: Chiral Relay:
In this critical turning point of Episode 8, Sam is tasked with repairing a damaged chiral relay station to reestablish the network and push deeper west. The assignment takes him across the treacherous, snow-covered terrain of the mountains beyond Heartman’s Lab, with unpredictable Timefall, sheer drops, and hostile MULE camps along the route. Equipped with high-level climbing gear and all-terrain equipment, Sam navigates the volatile landscape to reach the relay’s location.

But the mission takes a darker turn as Sam approaches the target zone and is pulled into a tar-covered area flooded with BTs. A massive whale-like BT erupts from the black goo, triggering a chaotic and cinematic battle. Using his anti-BT weapons and grenades crafted from his own blood, Sam fights his way through a horde of spectral enemies while sprinting between collapsing buildings sucked into the tar ocean. The relentless BTs and surreal, warping environment signal that Sam is moving closer to Amelie—and to the root of the Death Stranding itself.

After a tense escape, Sam successfully repairs the chiral relay, allowing the UCA to reconnect the region. Worn down and psychologically shaken, Sam returns to a nearby facility where he rests in a private room. There, the emotional and physical toll of the recent missions settle in. As he stares at the ceiling, images of Amelie, Fragile, and the increasingly blurred line between the living world and the beach haunt his thoughts. He knows now that the answers lie just ahead—and they won’t come without a cost.
