Jagannath Rath Yatra: Stampede In Puri Kills Three, Injures Several Others | N18G

A stampede broke out during Jagannath Rath Yatra in Odisha's Puri, which killed three and injured more than 10 people. The early morning crowd surge led to chaos and a subsequent stampede as several people fell and were trampled. The incident occurred as the holy chariots reached near the Shree Gundicha Temple. According to eyewitnesses, the police arrangements were inadequate for crowd control. Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi has apologised to devotees for the incident and offered condolences to the families of the victims. He also ordered a probe into the “security lapses” during the yatra.
