Were the Scribes Copyists? (Bible)

Scribes were counted among the elite in ancient Egypt and led charmed, yet challenging, lives.
They influenced virtually every sphere of the public and private affairs of the citizenry to an astounding degree. Be it the Pharaoh or lay person - everyone needed the services of scribes.
Scribes mostly rendered their services in the royal court, temples and administrative offices.
However, their other noteworthy achievements were the result of collaborating with workers in departments such as the army, and the vast numbers of artisans and architects.
Since the scribes were lawyers (see LAWYER), much of their time was occupied in teaching and in judicial functions, and both these activities must be pursued gratuitously.
During the Hellenistic period, the priests, especially those of the upper class, became tainted with the Hellenism of the age and frequently turned their attention to Paganistic culture.
Scribes were greatly esteemed in society as men who possessed godly wisdom, and their utterances were respected.
