This teaching examines women from a Bible perspective, trying to answer questions like:
• How does God view women, especially with respect to men?
• In the ancient Hebrew family, what was the role of the woman?
• In the New Testament church, what was the role of women?
• How did Jesus think of women?
• How to contrast typical social views of women with the Biblical view?

There are many Christian and non-Christian cultures that see women in a range of negative ways from slightly inferior to men at the least, to little more than a possession like a slave or even cattle.

This teaching shows from the Bible that in the Jewish culture and in the Bible, God sees men and women as being of equal value and equal importance. That does not mean that men and women are the same or that they have the same capabilities. This becomes especially noticeable in marriage, a joining of equals into one flesh, where the family is best served when the husband and wife bring complimentary abilities and views to the marriage, rather than trying to compete for the same job assignments.

If you like to learn about the culture of the Old and New testaments, you will love this teaching, because it provides little known tidbits about life of the times that add a new depth to the meaning of the scriptures. For example, did you know that when the woman at the well approached the well that Jesus was, according to social norms, supposed to get up and move 20 feet away from the well. Also, local custom forbade Jesus from not only interacting with a Samaritan, but also required Jesus not to speak to a lone woman and, not even to make eye contact with her.
