Police in Belgrade fired tear gas and arrested dozens as clashes erupted during a massive protest demanding snap elections and the resignation of President Aleksandar Vucic.

About 140,000 people joined the student-led rally, chanting for elections and accusing the government of corruption and repression.

The protests began after a deadly train station collapse in December fueled anger over alleged negligence, Al-Jazeera has reported.
