LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- The Lynchburg Police Department said two people have been arrested during a confrontation on Main Street early Saturday morning that has now gotten attention on Facebook.

Police said officers were called to the area in front of Dish restaurant around 1:40 a.m. for a report of a group of about 15 people acting disorderly and 'getting ready to fight' in front of the building.

After several verbal warnings, police said 30-year-old Veshawn Darrell Fuller was arrested for public intoxication, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, and loitering.

While Fuller was being arrested, police said 28-year-old Donald Jamal Lipford, III aggressively approached officers and assaulted one of them when he was told to get back.

Lipford then resisted as officers tried to take him into custody, police said, and a K9 was used to try and help officers gain control of him.

Police said they were eventually able to get control of Lipford and he was arrested and charged with assault and battery of a police officer, disorderly conduct, and obstruction of justice.

During the two arrests, police said three officers were hurt.
