Side Street (1950)

Directed by Anthony Mann. The film follows Joe Norson (Farley Granger), a struggling New York City mail clerk who impulsively steals what he believes is a small amount of money from a lawyer’s office to support his pregnant wife. But the sum turns out to be far larger and connected to a web of blackmail, corruption, and murder. As Joe is pursued by both criminals and the police, his life spirals into chaos.
