Wii Play - Charge!

This is a capture of me earning a platinum medal in the Charge! mode of Wii Play for the Wii. This was recorded directly from my Wii (not the Wii U).

I had actually been interested in getting Wii Play since shortly after I got my Wii in early December 2006 because it looked like more of Wii Sports. However, I never got around to buying it until 2011, mostly because I made the mistake of listening reviewers who bashed the game. It's a shame I waited so long because the game is actually quite fun. It reminds me of a lot of the simple black box NES games I played as a kid.

Cow racing is an interesting concept with a flawed execution. It's fun the first time you play it, then it has no replay value. The problem is that there's no real course to speak of. You just go for a high score each time.

Considering the control style, Nintendo should have done something more like the Excite 3D mode from Excitebike 64. That would have been a perfect fit for the control scheme and much more entertaining.

To earn a platinum medal in this mode, I think you have to knock over all of the scarecrows. I'm not sure if it's tied to a score as well, but I noticed that once I took out all the scarecrows, I automatically earned the platinum medal, even though I had previously obtained more than 320 points.

Recorded with the Hauppauge HD PVR and the Wii's component cables at 60 frames per second.

I'm using a Wii Remote.
