D.C. (Dist. of Criminals), June 30, 2025 — In a blistering exchange with former CIA officer John Kiriakou, Tucker Carlson revealed that ex-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo once threatened to sue him over allegations that Pompeo plotted to assassinate WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Carlson didn’t back down. “Go ahead and sue me,” he said defiantly. “Discovery would be fun.”

Kiriakou, who served time in prison for telling ABC News that the CIA tortured detainees at Guantanamo Bay, contrasted his conviction with Pompeo’s continued freedom despite widespread reporting that he led a CIA plan to abduct or kill Assange during his time at the Ecuadorian Embassy. “They literally planned to murder Julian Assange,” Kiriakou said. “So why wasn’t Mike Pompeo arrested?”

Carlson echoed the outrage, asking whether a mere appointee—not even an elected official—has the right to use taxpayer dollars to plot the murder of someone who embarrassed their agency. “You are not,” Kiriakou replied flatly. “You can’t use federal funds to murder people who embarrass you. Unless you’re Barack Obama—but anyone else? No.”

The two referenced past CIA precedent, including former agent Bob Baer, who was given the choice to resign or face charges for merely discussing the assassination of Saddam Hussein. The implication: Pompeo went far beyond talk, and yet remains untouched.

Kiriakou, reflecting on his own treatment, said the CIA objected to him being placed in a minimum-security facility. “They’re vindictive,” he said. “Ask Julian Assange.” Carlson added that Pompeo was so enraged by the murder plot exposure that he threatened legal action—something Carlson welcomed. “If the facts are a defense, and they are, then discovery would be very entertaining.”
