Aug. 25, 1965 - President Johnson stressed the Administration’s goal of peace in a press conference today at the White House.
“We are constantly searching to substitute words for guns,” he said. “We are devoting every waking hour to trying to find ways to do this.”
Johnson said he had had “excellent cooperation” from the leadership of both political parties in the conduct of the war in Vietnam and that he expected to have this same cooperation in the future.
