Roger Ebert and Guest Critic, Kenneth Turan from "Los Angeles Times" (He's a great critic from my favorite newspaper!) reviews "The Mod Squad" (While Claire Danes, Omar Epps, Giovanni Ribisi and Dennis Farina are great together, the movie adaption of an excellent original 1968 Aaron Spelling Crime Drama Series with Clarence Williams III, Peggy Lipton, Michael Cole and Tige Andrews doesn't hold any bars! It's an awful 90s MTV-style with Foster Grant Sunglasses, fancy clothes and lame plotting!); "Doug's 1st Movie" (Never thought that will be reviewed just like "The Rugrats Movie", another movie based on the popular and original 3 Nicktoons. Of course, "Doug" was one of them from Nickelodeon until 1996. When Disney and Jumbo Pictures brought it back with a new look, changes and most of the voices of the original Nicktoon are the same except Billy West whom was replaced by Thomas McHugh as Doug and Roger Klotz. Also, it was originally a Direct-to-Video Movie before Disney decided to release it in theatres possibly because of the success of "The Rugrats Movie". Anyway, this was a decent and fun adventure about how Doug, Skeeter and the gang had found a Neematoad at Lucky Duck Lake in Bluffington. I have to agree with Turan more than Ebert on this review.); "A Walk on the Moon"; "EdTV" (One of the three comedy/dramas involving reality television, "The Truman Show", "Pleasantville" and this film. Essentially, that would have been what "Big Brother" is today! But this is a great comedy from director Ron Howard. Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Jenna Elfman, Elizabeth Hurley, Ellen Degeneres, Martin Landau and Rob Reiner.) and "Among Giants".
Video Pick of the Week: Ebert picks "Bulworth" (Warren Beatty's satirical take on the political system and how financially ruined the Senator becomes. Now he's fed up and decide to take matters into his own hands such as targeting his own death to collect Insurance policy for his family, tells lots of dark and honest controversial observations and suddenly falls in love with a young hip woman!) And a recap of Today's program.
Recorded on KATU ABC 2 in Portland, Oregon with Commercials intact.
