I think the parallels are pretty interesting. Iran's Fordow nuclear facility, was revealed in 2009, closely resembles the underground uranium enrichment site targeted in Top Gun: Maverick.

The film's plot, developed from 2010 only a year after its discovery. It depicts a mission to destroy a rogue state's nuclear plant, echoing concerns about Fordow's 83.7% enriched uranium.

The original Top Gun was inspired by an article by Israeli writer Ehud Yonay, whose family later sued over Maverick's copyright. It almost as if the medias conditions audiences to view such conflicts as imminent…blurring Hollywood fiction with geopolitical realities.
