Maundy Thursday, also known as Holy Thursday, is the Christian holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter. It commemorates the Last Supper, the final meal Jesus shared with his disciples, and the institution of the Eucharist (Holy Communion). The day also remembers Jesus washing his disciples' feet, an act of humility and service, and the commandment (maundatum in Latin) to love one another.
