We Should PROTECT The People Who Protect And Serve US

All too often over the last few years, members of law enforcement have been the victims of heinous crimes, merely because they are members of law enforcement. As a state, we have adopted "hate crime" statutes, to be applied when a crime is committed upon a person merely because they have some personal characteristic, including their being a victim of domestic violence, or even a victim of sexual assault. This session, during our debate on further expansion of our hate crime statutes, I moved to have law enforcement made a protected class for the purposes of our hate crime statutes. As you can see, Democrat leadership was clearly against protecting those that protect and serve us.
