Dirt Gingerbread House | Christmas Countdown Crafts

Today I’m bringing a gingerbread house to life… but with dirt! Yep, you read that right. I started by straining bagged topsoil to get rid of wood chips and rocks until it looked like fine coffee grounds. Then, I mixed up a batch of “dirt dough” with 2 cups of strained dirt, 2 cups of flour and 3/4 cups of water to create the pieces for this adorable little house.

I designed a simple house template out of cardstock and cut out the walls and roof from the dough. After baking the pieces in my air fryer for ten minutes (since my oven’s down), I spray-painted them to even out the color. Then it was time for the fun part—decorating! I used wooden windows, a cute little door, scalloped roof details, and made peppermint trim from clay to finish it off.

It wasn’t without a few hiccups—like a puffy base that didn’t make the cut—but in the end, it all came together better than I expected. I even added a tea light inside for a cozy glow.
