The Democratic Doctors Caucus Press Conference Isn’t Going So Well as They Got Ignored by Everyone

UNKNOWN FEMALE: “We are the Doctors Caucus, Democratic Doctors Caucus. We have cared for the sickest patients in our two years. As physicians we didn’t care if someone was a Democrat or a Republican. In fact, that was never an issue that we needed to address. We just cared for people. And let me be clear, the big, ugly, betrayal bill will hurt people. It will cut $1 trillion in health care and that’ll devastate our health care community. This is not fiscal responsibility. It’s a snatch and grab robbery of our healthcare system to give billionaires tax breaks. And while we’re here, let’s do some back-to-back math and talk about what $1 trillion really could do. It could provide a full year of mental health care to hundreds of millions of people. It could cover the cost of giving birth to roughly 70 million children. It could help ensure that no family in this country goes bankrupt for paying for prescription drugs. And it could easily fund dental, vision, and hearing care for all of our seniors. That’s what happens if Congress chose to invest $1 trillion in people. But instead, Republicans are choosing to do the bidding of their billionaire donors. This caucus will not be silenced while Donald Trump trades live for luxury. The American people deserve to know exactly what it is that is being done in their name, in their democracy.
