Ephesians 1:15-23

Paul wanted the Ephesians to know that God’s great plan for their election as the Bride of Christ was not an afterthought. He has just described how God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit had been working from eternity past into eternity future to provide them with all spiritual blessings. And so, Paul prays that the believers would intimately know God and His Son Jesus Christ. Paul wants the eyes of their heart to be opened to truly see Him, His love for them, His power towards them, and the authority and position of Jesus Christ as the Head of the Body of Christ, the Church. This is the first of two of Paul's prayers for the Ephesians recorded in this epistle.
