Chilling ransom video surfaces before man’s murder: “We touched something that belong to the Spanish”— $40,000 needed asap, no police, just business

A disturbing video and a brutal murder are at the centre of a growing homicide investigation after the lifeless body of a man—later identified as Dacarai Jafari Dickson—was found tied, gagged, along Lady Young Road, in Belmont, on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025.

In a chilling two-minute and thirteen-second video dated June 28th, Dacarai is seen on the floor, hands, neck, legs, and ankles bound with rope, duct tape, a dog chain, and a t-shirt partially covering his face, pleading for two of his relatives to pay $40,000 to a group he repeatedly refers to as “the Spanish.”

“We touch something that belong to the Spanish and it's lead to a big bacchanal,” he says in the video, warning the recipients not to involve police. “They (Spanish) need this money asap. No police is to get involved. Strictly business with them. So once all yuh (names called) pay. I could get to go and everything would go back to normal. No problems. Nobody hurt. Nothing like that," Dickson said.

He however warned that time was of the essence. "Just see if all yuh could make the money fast please cause it have a deadline and I dont want it to reach to the deadline," he added.

He goes on to name two individuals and begs them to quickly raise the money before the unknown captors carry out their threat. The video, which was obtained by Ian Alleyne Network, shows Dacarai restrained with a dog chain around his neck and his hands and feet tightly bound—the same way his body was later found.

BODY DISCOVERED ALONG LADY YOUNG ROAD

Around 3:55 p.m. on Tuesday 2st July, 2025, first responders found the bound and gagged body of a man of African descent, in a grassy area about 21 feet off the southern side of Lady Young Road, just east of Sunset View and opposite a 50 km/h speed limit sign.

The victim—later confirmed as Dacarai Dickson—was approximately 6 feet tall, of medium build, and brown complexion. He was clad in the exact clothing seen in the video: a brown camouflage-pattern t-shirt, black three-quarter pants, and boxer shorts with the word “Superman” on the waistband. He was barefoot.

Both hands were bound behind his back using a belt, rope, and tie strap, and his ankles were secured with a black strap. A rope was also tied around his neck, and a white cloth was wrapped around his face.

The District Medical Officer visited the scene, officially pronounced him dead, and ordered a forensic autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.—
