Day 9 Time to go home! KSMQ - 9G3 - KASW

Picturesque VFR day to travel in a Piper Cherokee Six from New York City to Warsaw, Indiana. But we’re in no hurry to get there… today…we’re taking the back roads, the scenic route if you will, and checking two more things off the bucket list.

Climb inside the cockpit with us as we fly the Niagara Falls SVFR and through Canadian airspace as part of our flight plan back home. We also play another round of “Conversations in the Cockpit” and things go sideways with this one real quick!

Did you know US aircraft can operate in Canadian airspace without talking to Canadian controllers? If you are not planning on landing on an active FAA flight plan that takes you through Canadian airspace while actively communicating with US ATC, chances are you’ll never talk to Canadian Controllers. We did this as part of the long way home to Indiana and it’s super cool to say I’ve flown in another country as part of the Epic Trek!

Key Requirements:
* You must file and activate an IFR flight plan
* Communicate with Air Traffic Control (ATC)
* Obtain a Discrete Transponder Code
* Adhere to Canadian Airspace Regulations
* Pilot Documents: FAA Pilot license, medical certificate, US passport
* Aircraft Documentation (AROW)
* Your aircraft must have liability insurance that is valid in Canada
* ADS-B (In & Out @ 1090 MHz)
