Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is a 2014 action-adventure game developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Set in the rich fantasy world of J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium, the game tells an original story that takes place between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Players assume the role of Talion, a Gondorian ranger who is slain along with his family, only to be resurrected with the help of a mysterious Wraith—later revealed to be Celebrimbor, the elven smith who forged the Rings of Power.

Together, Talion and Celebrimbor set out on a quest for vengeance against the forces of Sauron, blending stealth, melee combat, and parkour-style exploration in the dark lands of Mordor. The game features the innovative Nemesis System, which dynamically generates unique enemies who remember and react to the player's actions, creating personal rivalries and emergent storytelling.

The game's dark tone, compelling combat mechanics, and deep lore connections earned it critical acclaim and a loyal fanbase. It was followed by a sequel, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, in 2017.
