My freedom was paid for by the blood of many and should never be taken for granted.

I celebrate this day because it is the very reason I’m able to write or talk about books.

Perhaps that’s why I put my character, Gerard, in the middle of the Revolutionary War, because the historical value of it is tremendous.

Gerard is a French soldier who fights with the Americans. It’s where he falls in love and loses his love. It’s the story of sacrifice and courage that began on a battlefield.
