Welcome. The potatoes got attacked by flea beetles, a known problem when you keep using the same area for potatoes. There’s a reason for crop rotation. This literally popped up yesterday, so I quickly sprayed the plants with a mild soapy solution using Dawn soap. This will settle on and dry out the beetles and kill them off. Diatomaceous earth is good for this as well but I don’t have enough of it. As I was spraying the potatoes, I notice a larger Beatle, the Raspberry Japanese Beetle!

Luckily, I have traps from last year’s infestation that I ordered. I quickly deployed last year’s trap and they flocked to the pheromone pack immediately, even after it being opened a year and the bag left hanging in the storage tent over winter. Look to the end of the video for more Jap Bug Bag use.

The Flea Beetles seem to be kept at bay today, the next day, but I will spray a mild soap solution again again after supper.

The Squashes also received their top Turmeric spray. There are also squash beetles about and I have managed to intercept their egg laying on two plants already. This turmeric mixture will make it less attrative to them.

Butch still lives, the front box continues to grow into the jungle it will become by the end of July.

The Bird Shit Berry Bush has given another 700g after 2 pickin’s.
