HORRIFIC Texas Camp Flood | 27 Dead, Dozens Still Missing

🛑 TEXAS FLOOD TRAGEDY – FULL COVERAGE Two young girls, Renee Smajstrla (8) and Janie Hunt (9), have been confirmed dead after being swept away by catastrophic flash floods at Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp located on the banks of the Guadalupe River in Hunt, Texas.

What began as a summer escape turned into a nightmare as torrential rains hit the Texas Hill Country on July 4, causing the Guadalupe River to surge more than 20 feet overnight. The floods quickly overwhelmed the area, stranding hundreds and sweeping away campers and staff.

As of today, 27 people have been confirmed dead, including 9 children and 18 adults. Authorities say over two dozen girls from Camp Mystic were reported missing, prompting a massive multi-agency rescue and recovery operation.

🚁 Search and rescue teams, helicopters, drones, and volunteers have been working nonstop to locate the missing. Over 850 people have already been rescued, but more than 20 remain unaccounted for. The camp was hosting around 500 girls at the time of the flooding.

The identities of Renee and Janie were confirmed by family members online. Renee’s uncle credited the viral spread of her photo on social media for helping first responders locate her body quickly. Janie’s death was confirmed by a family friend.

⚠️ A flash flood watch remains in effect, and authorities are urging people in the surrounding counties to remain on high alert.
