MAT 6:9-13, (also in LUK 11) MAT “Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be THY name, THY kingdom come, THY will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.”
The primary purpose of prayer is or should be that GOD’s Will be done; always for HIS glory, and that is for our ultimate benefit. Again for our benefit is NOT the reason for prayer, but a result of a good prayer life.Yeshua notes that the hour has finally arrived for HIS sacrifice on behalf of mankind.
Yeshua prays for HIMself. Then next, Yeshua prays for HIS followers, HIS Disciples. In the most immediate context, this is a prayer for the 11 remaining apostles. The men personally taught and trained by Yeshua as HIS Disciples will experience tremendous rejection and persecution as they preach HIS Yeshua’s Message of truth. And it will begin immediately.
PSA 41:9, Even my (MY) close friend, someone I trusted, one who shared my (MY) bread, has turned against (betrayed) me (ME).Yeshua prays that these men would be strengthened in their resolve, after all they are to remain in a hostile world.
