🧠 Who Was Larbi Ben Mhidi?
Born: June 15, 1923, in Ain M'lila, Algeria

Died (Martyred): March 4, 1957, in Algiers (Age 33)

Role: Commander of Wilaya V (Oran) and senior leader of the FLN (National Liberation Front)

Known for: Leading the Battle of Algiers, and his unmatched moral strength under torture

He once said:

"Throw the revolution into the street… and the people will carry it."

⚔️ How He Lived
Raised in a religious and nationalist family

Joined anti-colonial activism in his youth

Became a military commander in the FLN

Refused all forms of terrorism against civilians — even during war

Organized the urban resistance in Algiers with wisdom, strategy, and ethics

Believed that faith in Allah was the greatest weapon against oppression

🩸 How He Died
In February 1957, French paratroopers arrested Ben Mhidi during the height of the Battle of Algiers.
He was:

Imprisoned

Tortured mercilessly — including skinning parts of his face

Mocked, beaten, starved

But he never gave in.
He smiled to their faces.
He refused to betray his people.
And on March 4, 1957, the French executed him in secret — and tried to cover it up as a suicide.

But Algeria knew.
The world knew.

And that smile… never disappeared.
