Sermon on Infant Baptism - Lords Day July 6th, 2025 - Trinity Reformed Church - Belgic Confession article 34
Children are part of the covenant. Expressions and perceptions that can be given or interpreted that we think our children are saved or okay because they are baptized. We have to understand the thread of redemption. The promise to Abraham is the same as our promise. Baptism is not circumcision. Begin with the covenants they have to see there is a continuity.

The commandment in the great commission

Children are disciples through believing parents. Teach them all things I have commanded you. Disciples means student. David - 2 Sam 12:23 - What is Davids hope here? David has a hope that he will be reunited with his child. Children in the Christian community are set apart. God doesn't treat them like the world. 1 Corinth 7:14, Psalms 127:3, why does God hate divorce? Mal 2:14 -violates His law, harm to the woman and the harm to children (V15). God seeks godly offspring.
Eph 6:1 - a command to children.. therefore we judge that they belong to God, that they are set apart to obey. He wants them to be trained in Christ. They should be baptized. Abraham received the sign after he believed but his son received the same sign before he believed. Dispensationalist believes that the church is new in the new testament. But the church has been around since the beginning. The NT church is the fulfillment of the OT promises. It's not a new church.

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Romans 4:20-23 (NKJV) 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.” 23 Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him,

Romans 9:6-7 (NKJV) 6 But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they [are] not all Israel who [are] of Israel, 7 nor [are they] all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.”

Ephesians 6:1-2 (NKJV) 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise:
