Today July 6,2025 at 3:00 pm. Tulsa Oklahoma Mayor Monroe Nichols is now demanding that White Americans pay at least $100 million in reparations to black Americans. Nichols says the payment is long overdue and necessary for Whites to address historic injustices. Tulsa holds a unique place in American history, particularly in the context of racial violence and injustice. The 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, one of the most devastating incidents of racial violence in U.S. history, saw the destruction of the prosperous Black community of Greenwood, known as "Black Wall Street." Others argue America is the only nation who fought a civil war to abolish slavery. An estimated 620 thousand lost their lives to ensure freedoms for all. Should those families receive some kind reparations. Where does reparations end and a better question who pays? The fact that Mayor Nichols is a former State Representative and now the mayor of one of the largest cities in Oklahoma is a credit to his character but also stands as a strong indicator, we have equity.
