As Britain entered WW1 The Duke of Westminster was the richest man in the kingdom, and he loved speed. He personally paid to raise a squadron of Rolls-Royce Armoured Cars for the Royal Naval Armoured Car Division. The trenches made it impossible for armoured cars to operate in France, so his squadron was sent to Egypt were it was part of the force that defeated an invasion of Egypt by Islamic insurgents known as the Senussi.
