80s Retro Sunday Special | Max Headroom Episodes “Security Systems”-“Blanks” | Time Capsule | 1987

Take a trip back to 1987(ish) with me…okay, it won’t be exactly 1987 on the dot, but most of the content tonight will be like a Time Capsule from 1987 & what we were watching on TV…commercials…anyone wanna buy a brand new YUGO for only $3999? Just Say No to The Real Ghostbusters cartoon…and get this, in the 80s we had this thing called “MTV” that stood for “Music Television” that made the radical decision of offering music set to video all day and night…go figure, what a concept…imagine if a media organization had that kind of vision today!

Experience 1987 for a few hours tonight…except for the few times I decided to swap 1987 for 1978 because I prefer Saturday Night Live from the late 70s over SNL from the late 80s…or rather, I can just find more classic comedy from that era but at some stage, I’ll try to integrate only SNL & other comedy from the specific era of the time capsule we are reviewing…and I’ll make this a weekly thing going forward, time permitting, I’ll try to stick to the Sunday Night format for ‘this’ only.

I have two outstanding, not previously aired on my channel, episodes of Max Headroom to share with you. Lots of classic music where you’ll learn how much it cost make a long distance call from LA to NY (expensive as hell) & how Detroit actually competed with Yugoslavia on American Car Sales…mind you, Detroit came out on top…but seriously?

No offense YUGO…it was an admirable attempt at a disposable car & no worse than shit Detroit put out sometimes…touché

But I digress…

Here is what we’re watching…FYI…I’ve already screened most of Season One aside from these two episodes. Go search for those streams if you’d like to watch them ‘with’ me…otherwise, you can find them on a few streaming services without my constant babbling

Heavy ‘technocratic future’ themes tonight…because we don’t want this to be purely for entertainment…though I hope tonight will be as entertaining for you as it is educational.
