The Fighter Jet Built in a Fit of Panic | McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle | History in the Dark

The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle was envisioned as an air-superiority fighter developed in the late 60s and early 70s. Since that time, they're still flying in the US Air Force in upgraded forms and been adapted for ground attack roles. They are arguably the best 4th generation fighters created, but they were actually a rushed project due to political pressures and a panic over an incredible misunderstanding about the Soviet MiG-25 Foxbat's capabilities. It just so happens that the F-15 turned out amazing.
