Annie and the Wild Animals

Written and illustrated by Jan Brett.

The story follows Annie, a young girl who becomes lonely when her cat, Taffy, disappears one winter morning. To cope with her loneliness, Annie tries to befriend the woodland animals near her home by leaving out corn cakes. However, the animals that come to eat the corn cakes are not suitable pets, as they are wild and do not provide the companionship she seeks.
