Southern Jackaroo 24: MRF-D 24.3 Marines Engage in Live-Fire Defense Operations

TOWNSVILLE FIELD TRAINING AREA, QLD, AUSTRALIA – June 8, 2024

U.S. Marines from 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment (Reinforced), MRF-D 24.3 execute live-fire defensive maneuvers during Exercise Southern Jackaroo 24, a joint multinational exercise designed to enhance battlefield coordination and interoperability.

Training alongside the Australian Army, U.S. Army, Papua New Guinea Defence Force, and Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force, MRF-D Marines strengthened combined arms readiness and reinforced strategic alliances in the Indo-Pacific region.

This integrated combat exercise showcases the lethality, flexibility, and coordination of forward-deployed forces.
