The Analemma phenomenon.

The timelab illustration shows cardinals, seasons and the sun's paths in the vortex over the tropics between Cancer and Capricorn on the plane of inertia, seen from areas between Earth's center and the tropic of Cancer where it generates this figure-8 pattern.

An analemma, i.e. a still photo taken every day from the same spot at noon for a period of one year. It illustrates the seasons from the first day of the year on March 21, the spring equinox and two years ahead.

The sun has to adjusts its speed due to different circle sizes, thus it moves slower after the solstice and faster before. A photo taken at noon every day during a year will therefore not be a straight vertical line from solstice to solstice, but show this offset, creating a figure eight shape, the analemma.

This phenomenon can be copied and repeated as many times as you want by anyone. The Sun is always in exactly the same spot every year at the equinox and solstice and has been since the beginning of time.
