In this video, I react to Decoy Voice’s coverage titled “LA Just Lost Millions..”, which exposes how Mayor Karen Bass has slashed funding from the LAPD and Los Angeles Defenders Foundation, while diverting huge sums to outside legal fees.

Mayor Bass cut $17.6 million from essential fire and public safety budgets—including layoffs and overtime cuts—before catastrophic wildfires hit LA.

While reducing staffing and frontline support, the city is spending millions on outside lawyers and legal settlements, draining the budget further.

Lapd funding also took hits—despite rising crime—while legal fees balloon under her administration.

Cutting safety budgets only to funnel money into legal departments is backwards priorities. Los Angeles should be investing in neighborhoods, not high-priced lawyers.

With major fires and public safety risks ongoing, undeploying resources now isn’t just inconvenient—it’s dangerous.

If we’re paying lawyers to cover governance failures, we also need accountability for decisions that forced those payouts.

This isn't a minor adjustment—it’s a strategic choice: public safety is underfunded while legal costs absorb millions.

Defunding frontline services and pushing officers and firefighters past capacity erodes public trust.

LA deserves leadership that doesn’t sacrifice safety for legal appeasement.
