Update on Hannah Dugan's Case

A federal magistrate judge said that the Justice Department's criminal case against Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan should move forward and recommended that her bid to dismiss the indictment be denied.

The denied bid? More than 130 retired judges urged the federal court to drop charges against judge, saying her arrest undermines "centuries of precedent on judicial immunity."

However Judicial immunity applies to official acts only. Judge Hannah Dugan's accused crime was not an official act. It was an unofficial act by a judge.
