Bongino Missing After DOJ Epstein Memo Blowup: Resignation Rumors Swirl
D.C., District of Criminals, July 11, 2025 — Tensions at the highest levels of the Justice Department erupted this week after a heated confrontation between Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino regarding the release of a controversial DOJ memo on Jeffrey Epstein. According to multiple sources cited by Fox News, Bongino has not returned to the office since Wednesday, and insiders say he’s considering resignation.
The dispute centers on a two-page memo released earlier this week by the DOJ that reaffirmed the long-disputed claim that Epstein “killed himself” and declared that “no client list exists.” The memo, released with no accompanying files or attachments, has drawn harsh criticism from across the political spectrum — especially from Trump supporters who feel the administration’s handling of the case lacks transparency.
Fox News correspondent David Spot reports that Bongino and Bondi engaged in a fiery exchange inside the White House over the timing and framing of the release. Four separate sources confirm that Bongino was “furious” over what he viewed as a deliberate downplay of key findings and a betrayal of prior commitments to transparency.
Attorney General Bondi, who had repeatedly hinted that the Epstein files and client list would be declassified, appeared to walk back expectations in a press conference this week, stating: “When I said it was sitting on my desk, I meant the file — along with the JFK and MLK files — not the list itself.”
The White House responded to growing backlash with a brief statement from Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt: “The President is proud of Attorney General Bondi’s efforts. The continued fixation on sowing division within President Trump’s Cabinet is baseless and unfounded.”
Still, FBI Director Kash Patel’s public silence has only amplified online criticism, with Bondi, Bongino, and Patel all trending under hashtags like #WhereIsTheList and #EpsteinCoverUp. Many Trump supporters are demanding clarity, citing the president’s repeated promises to fully declassify Epstein-related materials.
One source close to Bongino said he is weighing resignation, describing him as “fed up” with internal spin. “He didn’t sign up to push lies,” the source added. Meanwhile, Patel and Bondi are reportedly staying put, despite the firestorm.
This high-profile internal rift comes amid broader scrutiny of Trump’s Justice Department, which has faced relentless pressure to deliver on transparency around not only Epstein but also long-sealed files related to JFK, MLK, and other historic coverups. With trust on the line and political opponents circling, the administration may soon be forced to act.
