Is the NFA $0 Tax a Double-Edged Sword?

With the One Big Beautiful Bill signed into law, the National Firearms Act (NFA) tax on short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs), and suppressors/silencers has been changed from $200 a transfer or build to $0.

Set to take effect January 1, 2026, this marks a major victory for gun rights organizations such as the GOA, NRA, FPC, SAF, and others. However, with this victory there is a concern, couldn't the gun grabbers do the reverse when they come to power and push gun control points through reconciliation?
