Just like how the slave descendants in america got their names (surnames/last names) from EUROPEAN settlers in america, from the english, dutch, french, spanish etc. but most names were adjusted to sound and be more pronounced as english cause their accent changed them, there are SO many words in english that i know that are DUTCH but the accent changed them into something that is not recognized quickly if you didnt know the history of that word for example.. brooklyn is breukelen but the english can not pronounce that word so they changed it to fit them more easily which is brooklyn... that is just one word... there are hundreds of dutch and french and spanish, restaurant for example.. you think that is english?

Its french... but it sounds english but if you hear a french person say the exact same word you would KNOW that that is actually a french word cause it really fits and suits it very much coming out with that french accent... it is like it is finally home in the mouth it originated out of...
