Resh - 200 Hebrew Alphabet by John Kostic

The 20th letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Gematria 200, symbol head, or prince. Interestingly the word rosh literally means head.

The first word of the bible is Bereshith means "In beginning."
This is different from english translations which insert "the," which slightly (majorly depending on your point of view) change the meaning of the first sentence.

To ME - In THE beginning intones (conveys) a meaning that it is the beginning of ALL, which is incorrect. This is where people ascribe the beginning of the universe, the ridiculous "big bang" theory (which they don't have and have just made up calculations and models and don't actually HAVE the beginning, they just guess).
"In beginning" changes the meaning of the sentence slightly yet strongly I believe.
In beginning conveys a meaning of "In beginning" THIS work. NOT the beginning of ALL, nor the beginning of GOD, LORD, Yaweh. What other hints do I have to think this way? Well from God's own words we have a number of things which were already created, or can assume:
1. We know that God existed, and if GOD existed we know that he is a triumvirate God (a God of 3 parts, body, soul (mind) and spirit - further backed up that we are made in His image - body, soul, and spirit). So God, the Elohim existed.
2. Two passages tell us this off the top of my head - John 1:1 and the very next sentence of Genesis 1:2.

«And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.»
Genesis 1:2

UPDATED 07/12/25, same day as upload: The FULL sentence of Genesis 1:1 is

In Beginning-
«In (the) beginning God created the heaven and the earth.»
Genesis 1:1

SO- I AM INCORRECT in part of this- THE Heaven, and THE Earth were created. I still believe that there is a difference between IN beginning and In the beginning. Perhaps I am reading too much into it~

And also the Spirit of God. Notice "The Spirit of God" is capitalized (3 parts), and it moves.
3. And John's FIRST words

«In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.»
John 1:1

So also "the Word" existed. And Jesus Christ IS The Word of God. Now I realize that John DOES use "the," also the Gospel of John is written in greek. I have not gone far enough in studying to be able to discern the nuances of greek.
And also these are things for YOU to consider in your studies. But I DO know 100% that the word "the" in the Hebrew is inserted from hebrew to english and seems to change the meaning of the sentence slightly. John 1:2 also says -

«The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.»
John 1:2-3

SO- On one hand we know that a couple things existed, and on the other that the Word, Yeshua created all things-
What does this mean? The next couple things John says may be the key to the lock - and also the next couple lines in Genesis:

«In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
(comprehended: or, did not admit, or, receive)»
John 1:4-5

Does this mean then that there were dead things in existence, void, formless? And Yeshua created LIVING things from darkness. Did the Word of God overcome the darkness, evil, nothing to create us?
Then "In beginning" would change the meaning slightly to- In beginning the work ON MAN. On beginning the great work of LIFE.

Don't trust me - take it to the LORD, through the door, The Word of God, Yeshua.
Perhaps I am incorrect in my understanding.

What I am TRYING to express in my recovered alcoholic/hits to the head/addict BRAIN IS this-
The dimension that you and I know as everything....Is not necessarily EVERYTHING. God stands outside of time and matter itself. God was not begun when THIS universe and what we know as "real."

I take great comfort in Peter. Especially when he is corrected by Paul regarding circumcision/non circumcision-

Some things are hard to understand.
And difficult to get out clearly~

On another note from this lesson -Isaiah 52:7- I'd like to draw your attention to:

«How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”»
The Book of ISAIAH 52:7

Mountains represent high places, governments. Notice the letters of the words which are capitalized?
Are (the feet who) Who? Who?
Who? Who? Who?
5 who's capitalized though only commas separate them? Why?
also 2 proclaims -
and 2 "good"
also from Isaiah "the good news." What is the "good news" of the New Testament, Covenant....contract?
It is The Gospel of Jesus Christ - the peace of God towards the man and wo-man WHO proclaims the gospel of Christ messiah and peace offered to the earth of those WHO believe. READ ALL of Isaiah 52, and SEE Jesus/Yeshua.
And now ONE MORE major WHO in the next chapter of Isaiah in the next chapter 53-
WHO hath believed our report?

«Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.»
The Book of ISAIAH 53:1-4

Encoded in the Hebrew, all the names of the believers and apostles WHO have believed and proclaimed.
You can go back and watch this video and skip to the 43:05 minute mark to see the encoding of Isaiah - WHO is there and WHO is missing...

I would read all of Isaiah 52 and 53 to get the whole picture, or a big picture view.
