Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols

Chapter 14 opens with a certain set of elders coming to speak to Ezekiel. These were leaders among the Israelites that have come to Ezekiel with the purpose of asking the LORD God of Heaven questions and receiving the answers through Ezekiel. What is God telling Ezekiel? “How can these men come and ask me things when they are committing idolatry and sin?” These leaders of the Israelites that are in captivity are deep in sin, and they have come to God, not to repent of their sins, but have come to God to ask yet more of God. Why should God bless a sin filled man or woman? Why should God bless a sin filled, unrepentant man or woman? When we go to God in prayer, we should be repentant of our sins against Him!
