Trump assassination suspect floats bizarre prisoner swap in letter to judge

Ryan Routh, accused of attempting to assassinate former President Donald Trump, wrote a letter to the judge overseeing his case requesting the death penalty and proposing a prisoner swap with U.S. adversaries, even suggesting he be sent to Siberia.

In the letter, Routh expressed despair, criticized his court-appointed attorneys, and said he now wants to represent himself.

He apologized for being a burden on the court and reflected on personal dignity and morality, Fox News has reported.

Routh is charged in a Sept. 15 plot where he allegedly set up a sniper position near Trump’s Florida golf club before being confronted by Secret Service and fleeing.
