An 11-year-old boy, hospitalized after a skateboarding accident, claims to have seen Jesus and his deceased father while under the influence of strong pain medication. The video is touching hearts and gaining traction fast—but is anyone actually testing the spirits behind this vision?

Have you ever listened to the testimonies of people who’ve smoked DMT or consumed ayahuasca? Many say their lives are forever changed—speaking of “ego death,” unconditional love, and even deliverance from addictions. But are we to assume these experiences are from God simply because they produce positive outcomes?

Let’s not forget:
“Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” - 2 Corinthians 11:13-15

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”

The enemy is subtle. He doesn’t always come with horns and pitchforks—he often comes wrapped in light, appealing to our emotions and desires.

What this boy is experiencing—though tragic and heart-wrenching—could be pharmakeia-induced necromancy. Scripture makes it clear that speaking to the dead is an abomination (Deuteronomy 18:10-12). The dead sleep in the dust of the earth until the resurrection (Daniel 12:2; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17). So if the boy truly saw someone appearing as his father… it wasn’t his father.

We must remember Acts 16, where a woman possessed by a spirit of divination publicly acknowledged Paul and the disciples as servants of the Most High God. Yet Paul, grieved in spirit, cast the demon out—because even truth can be spoken by lying spirits to deceive:

“The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which show unto us the way of salvation… But Paul, being grieved, said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” - Acts 16:16-18

We’re not to be led by emotion. Just because a child claims to see “Jesus” doesn’t mean it's from God—especially when the encounter happens under mind-altering substances and involves communication with the dead. That is not biblical. That is not safe. And that is not to be celebrated.
Test every spirit. Do not be deceived by the counterfeit.
