In Righteousness Shalt Thou Judge Thy Neighbor
(The Sin of Respecting Persons in Judgment)
Text: Lev. 19:15; James 2

Objective: that we may learn not to respect persons in judgments

Intro:
Read vv 1-9
respect of persons in judgment - how bad? how many high-profile cases?
racist, bigotry, discrimination, prejudice, bias - no good justification
"Pagtatangi" - Partiality
Very Common and yet misused and abused subject

both sides are guilty, but more so is the 'advantaged' side
vv. 10 onwards

This Sin of Partiality is:
1. It's more on appearance - old sermon - v. 2 - "goodly apparel"
2. It's evil - v.4
3. It's victim is dear to God - v.5 - "chosen the poor"
4. It's perpetrator are enemies of God and everybody else - vv. 6-7 - "blaspheme"
5. It's disregarded in our salvation - v. 23 - "imputed righteousness"

Message/conclusion:

Understand this Sin of Respecting Persons in Judgment is wicked but at the same time is committed by even many and most Christians.
Avoid its use and negative effect in judgments - yours and others.
Don't have it - v. 1
