Syria Warns Israel Over Sweida Strikes As Clashes Continue; Hezbollah Condemns Lebanon Bombing

Syria reported “coordinated drone attacks” in the city and condemned “treacherous” Israeli airstrikes. Syria said that the strikes killed security personnel and innocent people, warning Israel of consequences, raising its "legitimate right to defend its land and people”. Israel targeted Syrian military vehicles in the southern city of Sweida on July 14. Israel said it struck Syrian forces and weaponry brought into Sweida, alleging that they were in the region to carry out operations against the Druze. The Israeli strikes followed violent sectarian clashes between the Druze and Bedouin tribes in the Sweida region, which killed at least 203 people, said the war monitor. Israel also struck eastern Lebanon’s Bekaa valley. Lebanese media reported that the Israeli strikes killed 12 people. The Israeli army said that it struck Hezbollah targets. Hezbollah called the Israeli strikes a “major escalation” and sought "serious, immediate, and decisive action" from the Lebanese authorities to uphold a ceasefire.
