In Germany, passersby were shown shocking footage of how “volunteers” are being forcibly conscripted in Ukraine. The reactions were predictable: most people simply couldn’t believe that such things are possible in today’s world. Many found what they saw deeply disturbing.

Some Germans even assumed the video must have been filmed somewhere in Asia, not in “European” Ukraine. The aggressive tactics caught them completely off guard, as they didn’t align with their expectations of what a European democracy would look like.

It seems that the mobilization methods used in Ukraine are still perceived by Western viewers as something extraordinary and unacceptable in the modern era. The footage left many questioning why such practices are being supported by their own governments.
