Rep. AOC Dishes on Meeting She Hosted for Democrats to Meet Zohran Mamdani: ‘I Think It Was a Really Positive Meeting’

BALLASY: “Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez organized a meeting for Democrats in Congress with the New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani here on Capitol Hill. I caught up with Ocasio-Cortez following the meeting. I was just going to ask you how things went with the Mamdani meeting and was — were the members receptive? How did it go?”

Ocasio-Cortez: “Yeah, I think it was a really positive meeting and, you know, it’s just important for folks to meet people in person, kick the tires, and talk to themselves.”

BALLASY: “What do you — what do you say to some members who might be on the fence about some of his policies, like ending cooperation with ICE or the New York City-run grocery stores? Some Democrats have criticized some of those policies. What’s your take on where they stand on it?”

Ocasio-Cortez: “I mean, I always think that the best approach to these things is to hear it directly from the person themselves instead of, you know, whatever the media static is or whatever it may be. If anyone has any reservations, you know, I think it’s important to meet and hear it straight from the source and make a determination from there.”
