SCRIPTURE READING FOR THE ANOINTING TODAY
Gen 42:35-38

35 As they emptied out their sacks, there in each man’s sack was the bag of money he had paid for the grain! The brothers and their father were terrified when they saw the bags of money.
36 Jacob exclaimed, “You are robbing me of my children! Joseph is gone! Simeon is gone! And now you want to take Benjamin, too. Everything is going against me!”
37 Then Reuben said to his father, “You may kill my two sons if I don’t bring Benjamin back to you. I’ll be responsible for him, and I promise to bring him back.”
38 But Jacob replied, “My son will not go down with you. His brother Joseph is dead, and he is all I have left. If anything should happen to him on your journey, you would send this grieving, white-haired man to his grave.”

The Word of God To Meditate On Today
Gen 42:35-38 Jacob Lacked Support In His Most Vulnerable Moment
Again we see here the act of Joseph's magnanimity being interpreted as a bad omen, now extended to their father Jacob. As a result, Jacob was now more terrified than he had ever been. Now, having been traumatized by the loss of Joseph, he anticipated the loss of Simeon and Benjamin. Why? An evil act, if not exposed and taken out has the potential of affecting everyone connected to it. First, it affected the Brothers and now it has extended to their father. Secondly, we see Jacob in one of the most vulnerable moment of his life. He spoke the language of fear "Everything is going against me" instead the language of faith "All things are working together for my good". Rom 8:28 He had no spiritual support such a moment of vulnerability. Such moments will occur to everyone, but who do you have in your company as a support system. Surround yourself with people who can support you. Remember that "iron sharpens iron" Prov 27:17

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

17 As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.

Father, today I make a deliberate choice to surround myself with friends and family members, who know You and are walking in Your will in Jesus' name!

Only with my eyes shalt I behold And see the wicked receive their rewards. Because I have made the LORD, my refuge, Even the most High, my habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, Neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For God shall give his angels charge over thee, To keep thee in all my ways. They shall bear me up in their hands, Lest I dash thy foot against a stone. I shall tread upon the lion and adder: The young lion and the dragon shalt I trample under feet. Because I have set my love upon God, therefore will He deliver me: He will set him on high, because I have known His name. I shall call upon Him, and He will answer me: He will be with me in trouble; He will deliver me, and honour me. With long life will God satisfy me, And shew me His salvation. So shall it be for me and my household throughout this week in Jesus' name!
